A charming city on the French Riviera that has long been a popular tourist destination, Cannes enjoys excellent transportation links and is easily accessible with excellent road, rail, ferry and air travel connections.
Flights to Cannes
Nice Cote d'Azur Airport (NCE) is Cannes’ nearest major international airport, located some 20km from the city of Cannes and reachable in around half an hour by car. Affordable short-haul airfares from UK airports are offered by many major carriers including low-cost airlines such as easyJet, Ryanair and Flybe, however we'd recommend using a service like momondo.com to search for flights.
Regular rail services departing from Nice St Augustin Station are also available should you not wish to hire a car, while a taxi rank is also located outside Nice airport’s arrivals halls.
Bus from Nice Airport to Cannes are available from outside of terminals 1 and 2. Bus number 200 which leaves every 30-40 minutes, (less frequently on Sunday) costs just €1, while Bus number 210, which goes directly to Cannes, costs around 15 euro for a single or 25.50 euros for a return ticket. You can purchase tickets from the driver when you board the bus, and discounts are also available.
Rail services to Cannes
Cannes is served by the SNCF’s networks and other international European rail services. Eurostar services are available from UK stations London St Pancras, Ebbsfleet and Ashford to stations in Paris and Lille in France. From there, connecting services may be taken to Cannes Station.
Driving to Cannes
France’s road network is well signposted, with motorways marked by blue signs and subject to tolls and free national roads marked by green signs. The A8 motorway, which runs along the French Riviera from Aix-en-Provence to the Cote d’Azur, is most often used by visitors to Cannes. Journeys from Paris can last as little as eight hours, whereas those transporting their vehicle to France via ferry can drive to Cannes in around 10 hours from Le Havre, 10.5 hours from Calais 11.5 hours from Cherbourg, and 13.5 hours from Roscoff.
Reaching Cannes by Sea
Le Havre, Cherbourg and Calais are the main ferry ports offering the majority of services between France and UK and Ireland that are useful to visitors to Cannes. From those locations, travellers can take road, rail or air transportation to the city. Ferry services are also available to the nearby port of Nice from Calvi and Bastia in Corsica, which range from under three hours via express ferry to under seven via cruise ferry.
Bus services to Cannes
Regional bus services are offered by Rapides Cote d’Azur (RCA) and covers the area from Grasse and Cannes to Nice, Monaco and Menton. RCA also provides a regular, rapid airport connection service from Nice Cote d'Azur Airport (NCE) to Cannes Gare Routière (Bus Station). The Bus Azur service, which offers transport along the French Riviera is highly recommended with tickets priced at just 1 Euro.
